We arrived in Bali after a pretty long travel day. Wrapping up our tuk tuk tour the night before, we headed to the airport around midnight. We stayed in a pod hotel for about four hours before checking in for our 6am flight. Once we landed in Bali, we had to drive about two hours to where we were staying for the month, an area called Canggu.
We arrived at our villa in the afternoon, and were immediately greeted by our City Manager and a fellow remote. We headed to Lola’s, a Mexican place down the road from us, before heading back home to shower, relax and unpack. The following day, I ran some errands: getting cash at the ATM and groceries at Pepitos. That afternoon, everyone had finally arrived at the villa, so we headed to the beach to hang out. I spent probably 6-hours just relaxing with friends I hadn’t seen in a week, digging my toes in the sand, and enjoying the lukewarm waters. It was a lovely evening!

The following day, we had our City Welcome presentation at the coworking space, BWork, followed by our Welcome Lunch. We learned about Balinese culture and customs, as well as logistics for our stay, our villa and a few key events. At lunch, we got to experience traditional Balinese dancing, which is the only dance in the world that choreographs eye movements.
Unfortunately, the next day, Alex and I suddenly became very sick with what is lovingly called “Bali belly”. We weren’t the only ones, either! But, we did end up spending most of the week down for the count. Once we were feeling better, we stuck to chill activities: watching the sunset on the beach, or swimming in our pool.
We were excited to jump back into experiencing this new country with a trip back to old Bali.
So good. Glad your having fun.
